An AI appointment setter reads your Instagram DMs, answers the person, asks the qualifying questions you would ask, and books the call. In 2026 there are more of them than anyone can trial, and most of the "best of" lists are written by one of the vendors and put themselves first. This one is written by LeadSignal, so read it knowing that, and use the prices and the "pick it if" lines to make your own call. Every price was read from the vendor's own site on 8 September 2026.

What an AI setter has to do, and what most lists skip

Sending a link when someone comments a keyword is not appointment setting. That is automation, and ManyChat has done it well for years. Setting is the part after the link: the "how much is it", the "I need to think about it", the "can we do Thursday", and the booking. The tools below differ on five things that matter more than the feature grid:

1. LeadSignal

LeadSignal is an AI setter and a lead-intelligence layer in one. Every Instagram and Facebook comment and DM comes in through Meta's approved API and is scored 0 to 100 with a tier, a plain-English summary, the intent signals and a next action. The AI, called Flo, is trained on your own real conversations so it sounds like you rather than like a script. You choose per lead whether Flo drafts for you to approve (Copilot) or runs the thread and follows up with people who go quiet (Autopilot), and a human can take over any conversation and hand it back. Calls are booked into your calendar from the DM, and every booking and customer is attributed back to the post, ad or keyword that started it.

Pricing is by new leads a month rather than by AI message, with unlimited AI messages inside that volume. Solo is one person working their own DMs; Starter, Pro and Enterprise add seats, channels and volume. WhatsApp, X and SMS are add-ons; YouTube and LinkedIn comments feed the same pipeline on Enterprise. There is a seven-day trial with no card, your own instance, and a free 30-minute setup call. The company is Lead Signal AI Technologies Limited in England, GDPR-ready with a signed DPA.

Pick it if you sell a service by call, you or your setters work the DMs, and you want scoring, control and attribution rather than only an AI that replies. Look elsewhere if you want a free plan, or your job is giveaways and link-sending at volume.

2. SetSmart

SetSmart is an AI appointment setter for Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger DMs, sold per AI message. It runs GPT-style conversations rather than flows, books in-chat through Calendly and GoHighLevel, has an Instagram CRM with team access, sends and understands voice notes, follows up automatically at four and 23 hours, and connects to Zapier. The site states over 500 entrepreneurs use it. Pricing is $99/month, which includes 1,000 AI messages, with usage-based pricing above that and a custom Enterprise tier. The trial is seven days and needs a card.

Pick it if you want WhatsApp Business API and Messenger booking inside one low-touch tool, today, at one price, or you are fine paying per AI message and your volume sits comfortably under 1,000 a month. Look elsewhere if you have a setter team that needs a scored queue, or you want attribution. Full LeadSignal vs SetSmart comparison.

3. SetterFlo

SetterFlo is an Instagram-only AI setter sold as a pilot with an onboarding fee and a fixed monthly. It handles objections, has a script and tone editor, reads the prospect's bio and content, automates comment-to-DM, qualifies, books into Google Calendar, Calendly or Cal.com, and syncs leads to HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Pipedrive, ActiveCampaign, Google Sheets and Notion. Co-pilot mode lets the AI warm the lead and a human close. The Pilot Partner offer is $997 onboarding + $297/month with three months free during the pilot; a do-it-yourself Starter at $297 a month is listed as coming soon. WhatsApp and Messenger are on the roadmap. No free trial is stated.

Pick it if you want a done-with-you pilot with a fixed monthly and are happy to pay an onboarding fee. Look elsewhere if you want to try before paying, or you sell on more than Instagram. Full LeadSignal vs SetterFlo comparison.

4. Inrō

Inrō is an Instagram-only DM automation and campaigns tool with a free plan, priced by activated contacts. It automates comment-to-DM and story mentions and replies, runs DM campaigns to followers, and has an AI agent that answers from trained FAQs and product details in your tone. There is a free plan with 100 active contacts a month and 50 AI credits, Pro from from €12.99/month scaling with activated contacts, an annual tier at €1,249/year, and managed accounts from from €200/month. The site states 10,000+ creators and brands use it.

Pick it if you are a creator or brand on Instagram only and want a free plan to start on. Look elsewhere if you sell by call and need the AI to qualify and book, or you need Facebook or WhatsApp. Full LeadSignal vs Inrō comparison.

5. ManyChat

ManyChat is a visual flow builder for Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok and Telegram automations, priced by active contacts. It moved to a five-plan model on 2 March 2026: Free with 25 active contacts, Essential at $17/month, Pro at $39/month for 2,500 active contacts, Business at $99/month and Advanced at $199/month, with overage per extra active contact. AI-powered conversations are listed from Pro up; legacy accounts may still see a $29 AI add-on. It is the reference tool for comment-to-DM, giveaways and broadcasts, with a large template and agency ecosystem, and it supports TikTok and Telegram, which none of the setters here do.

Pick it if you want to build the conversation yourself, step by step, in a visual flow builder, or you need TikTok and Telegram. Look elsewhere if the conversation after the link is where your revenue is. Full LeadSignal vs ManyChat comparison and ManyChat alternatives for coaches.

6. GoHighLevel

GoHighLevel is an all-in-one agency CRM with funnels, email, SMS, calendars and a Conversation AI, sold by sub-accounts. Instagram and Facebook DMs land in its conversations inbox alongside SMS, email, calls and WhatsApp, and Conversation AI can reply and book across them, billed on usage. Plans are Starter at $97/month with three sub-accounts, Unlimited at $297/month, and Agency Pro at $497/month with SaaS mode for reselling. There is a 14-day trial.

Pick it if you are an agency and need the whole stack: CRM, funnels, email, SMS and calendars, per client. Look elsewhere if you want a specialist DM setter without a platform project; LeadSignal integrates with GoHighLevel by webhook if you keep it as the CRM. Full LeadSignal vs GoHighLevel comparison.

How to choose in ten minutes

  1. Count the messages in a typical conversation that books. If it is fifteen or more, per-message pricing will surprise you and per-lead or flat pricing will not.
  2. Decide who is in control. If a person must approve replies for the first weeks, you need Copilot-style control and takeover, not only an on-off switch.
  3. List your channels. Instagram only narrows the field to everyone; add Facebook, WhatsApp or SMS and it narrows fast.
  4. Ask how it learns your voice. A tone editor is a start; training on your real threads is what makes prospects not notice.
  5. Ask what the report says. If you cannot see which post produced the booked call, you cannot decide what to post next.
  6. Try it on real DMs. Only two of the six let you do that with no card: LeadSignal for seven days and Inrō on its free plan.

A note on Instagram rules

Every tool here uses Meta's official messaging API, which only allows a business to message people who have messaged or commented first, and only inside a 24-hour window after their last message. Any tool promising automated cold DMs on Instagram is using browser automation and gets accounts restricted. Prospecting is legitimate when a human sends the first message; LeadSignal's Signal Scout finds the accounts and writes the opener for that reason.

Questions people ask

What is the best AI appointment setter for Instagram?

For a coach or clinic selling by call with a person still in the loop, LeadSignal; for a self-serve setter across Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger metered by message, SetSmart; for a vendor-run pilot on Instagram only, SetterFlo. Creators who mostly send links and run campaigns are better served by Inrō or ManyChat.

How much does an AI appointment setter cost in 2026?

From a free plan (Inrō, ManyChat) to $99 a month for 1,000 AI messages (SetSmart), $297 a month plus a $997 onboarding fee (SetterFlo), and per-lead plans on LeadSignal whose live prices are on its pricing page. GoHighLevel starts at $97 a month plus usage for its AI.

Can an AI setter replace human setters?

It can replace the first reply and the routine qualifying, and it never sleeps. The tools that keep a human able to approve and take over convert better on high-ticket offers, which is why LeadSignal scores and queues conversations for a team rather than replacing it.

Which AI setters work on WhatsApp as well as Instagram?

SetSmart includes WhatsApp Business API; LeadSignal offers WhatsApp as an add-on with your own number; GoHighLevel supports it in its inbox. SetterFlo lists it as roadmap. Inrō is Instagram only.
